Italian Appetizers are the dish that is never missing from Italian tables, whether for celebrations or simply for a moment to share with friends or relatives.
They are popular because there is a wide choice, they can be made with meat or vegetables, cold or hot, simple or elaborate.

Appetizers have very ancient origins: already on Roman tables, lunch was preceded by lighter, fresh, appetising dishes. The gustatio, the ancestor of the appetizer, usually consisted of vegetables flavoured with sauces, fish and eggs, prepared in the most varied ways.
